Rich Provision Unto Perseverance If We're Awake

First 6.11.13

Hebrews 6,7-8: "The ground which drinks up the rain which frequently falls on it, and produces plants serviceable for those on whose account it is cultivated, has a share in God's blessing; but that which brings forth thorns and thistles is worthless; it is on the point of being cursed, and will at last be burned." (FF Bruce, NICNT, Eerdmans 1990)

1Peter4,17: "For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God." (ESV)

Revelation3,2: "Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God." ESV(added 7.25.15)

What can Jesus do but judge us on earth who have been given all the blessings, mercies and  provisions of his shepherding love and everlasting Spirit?

He asks "Did you lack anything that you truly needed to persevere?"

Early, He gave us the good seed of Himself, the word, the supernatural seed of faith unto the fruit and Godly power of baptism in the Holy Ghost.

Late, he rained down His Spirit, poured on anyone who seeks Him, to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth.

May we not become weary of following him, or well-doing in his Name.

What to do now, in the meantime?

Make good use of the time we have left (Ephesians5,17).

As Bob Dylan sings: "when you gonna wake up and strengthen the things that remain?"  ("When You Going To Wake Up?",  Slow Train Coming, Sony, 1979)
